    DarrenkampJohn Darrenkamp, Director
    b. Lancaster, Pennsylvania

    Celebrated baritone John Darrenkamp performed with the Metropolitan Opera for 22 seasons and the New York City Opera for seven seasons. During his 38 years of professional singing he has performed to critical acclaim with major opera companies throughout North and South America, Europe and the Far East. Mr. Darrenkamp conducted the opera workshop at Vassar College. He joined the Pennsylvania Academy of Music faculty as a founding member in 1989.

    Jennifer Lobo
    Voice

    B.A., Gettysburg College
    M.A. In Vocal Performance, New York University

    Jennifer Lobo has been named the new Musical Director of the Academy’s Children’s Choir and member of the voice faculty at the Pennsylvania Academy of Music.  Ms. Lobo received B.A in music from Gettysburg College and her M.A. in Voice Performance from New York University in New York City.  Her teaching experience includes music teacher for the Montessori school, private voice instructor, adjunct music faculty at New York University, and most recently as music teacher at the Manhattan School of Music.  Other work experience includes Education Coordinator for the Philadelphia Orchestra and Program Coordinator of the Arts-in-Education Department of the Manhattan School of Music. 

    Rod MacWherter
    Voice

    b. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
    B.M., New York University Advanced Studies, Academy of Vocal Arts, Philadelphia

    Celebrated tenor Rod MacWherter has performed with major opera companies throughout North and South American and in Europe. A former member of the Metropolitan Opera Company, Mr. MacWherter has performed many leading roles at the Met and over eighty performances of Verdi's "Otello" worldwide. Experienced in musical theater, he has participated in nationwide tours of musicals including "The Most Happy Fella" and "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum." During a period of 20 years, he has taught voice both in the United States and Europe, and has directed opera seminars at several New York State universities. Mr. MacWherter joined the faculty of the Pennsylvania Academy of Music in 1995.
